Tour De Nandi Hills

Recently , we had the opportunity to visit nandi hills early in the morning. With the support of lot of alarm clocks ,hand in hand with some strong sense of determination , we woke up at 3a.m and headed towards nandi hills. Contrary to our beliefs , there were many enthusiasts like us who showed as much determination , for nandi hills seemed like it was hosting a fair. We reached by 5 a.m to know that the ticket counter opens only at 6. The entry cost us an outrageous Rs.80. We got in at 6 am only to find that we had nature's call. We rushed to the "toilets" . Getting into the toilet itself was a terrible experience - totally soiled , without any water at all. It was written all over the place that plastic should not be used but there were heaps of plastic glasses thrown out of small shops , everywhere. The whole region was generously littered as though it has not been cleaned for years. There was no one to report to, no complaint registers. We had to rush back home after 30 minutes due to unavailability of toilets.

CHARIOTS OF THE GODS

Chariots of the Gods is the name of a book, I was fortunate enough to read recently. The book ,first published in 1970 ,was written by a man whose name I don't remember (maybe because I am a software Engineer ;-)).The book talks about really weird things , which I had never thought of before. For eg. it talks about the possibility of the war in Mahabharata ending in a nuclear explosion ,which might have destroyed almost the entire mankind. This made me google more on this topic and I found that a man named 'David Davenport ' has been into 12years of research to prove this.

Apparently the prehistoric and ancient civilizations like the Indus Valley and Egyptians even knew the technology to to create flying objects ,which they called 'vimana'.Hindu scriptures provide specific technical details on its construction and usage .

The author then goes on to say that mummification process came into existence because the Egyptians were informed by the Gods(or the Space Travelers) that years later the mummified bodies could be brought back to life. This , he equates to the technology that would in near future would be used to freeze astronauts so that they can be sent to distant planets like Mars.

Our author also goes to the extend of saying that homo sapiens came into existence by mating between ape like creatures on earth and space travelers. Bravo!!

I am currently half through the book named 'The Bermuda Triangle' and one of the apparent potential causes for the disappearance of hundreds of aircraft and ships is Space Travelers.Maybe like Calvin , I should put up a broad on the top of my terrace saying-
"UFOs LAND HERE"

Population And India

Population is soon becoming a threat to human life and to the resources and its high time India took some strong measures to tackle it. When I say India , I mean every citizen. It if a problem which each individual has to deal with and not just the country's government. Apart from the issue of population explosion , one gets to see articles on poor parenting every other days in the newspapers. I have no clue why people have children without even knowing if they are capable enough to provide them with the social, emotional and financial suppport. Family pressure turns out to the most common reason for deciding to have children in the educated lot. In the iliterate , poor and homeless, it could be anything from rape to greed to have have children to send them to work .

Dussahra , Diwali and South India

I was wondering lately the reason for Mallus not celebrating Dusshra /Diwali. And this lead us into a discussions about Ram and Ravan. A google search added some more info. I found many references which said that the fight between Ram and Ravan was more of a fight between the Aryans and Dravidians. The assuras one has heard about are in fact the Dravidians ,the early inhabitants of the Indian Subcontinent and the Devas are Aryans who had later on invaded India. The fact that Ravan was one of Asura Kings supports this fact. This also leads one to suspect that probably all the Hindu epics were written by Aryans and thus that would explain why Asuras are depicted as the evil ones. Now that was a great revelation!! In any case personally I feel that Sita might have been better off with Ravana because Ravana was strong enough to be ready to declare her as his wife without really fearing about the opinion of the mob . Apart from that he didnt have any constraints accepting her as his wife even though she had spent considerable time with Ram. Ram obviously appears weak in front of Ravan.

A Cold WorkPlace

Sitting in one's office the whole day is a punishment in itself. Added to it is the air conditioning. I can see many people around including me trying to warm themselves up beneath a shawl or sweater. All this is topped by the coldness displayed by people around. Everyone sounds like they are amidst a Formula1 race. I think the whole of India is amidst a Ferrari race- a struggle to survive. I fail to understand the reason for all the disparity. One one hand you get to see people in the rat race talking about technology and on the other side you see people with deep superstitions in mind.Too many problems to resolve.Talking about population I m forced to believe that majority of India doesn't follow any family planning and all this makes India a ready to burst bubble.

Take One's Boss to the Conference Room

Take one's Boss to the Conf. Room-This is a brand new phrase coined by a friend of mine and I. Any wild guesses ?It's pretty easy to guess. It is built on top of the deep sentiments like frustration linked to a common working class man/women. This phrase is linked to something which every working class member would have contemplated on doing and might have done in private to a virtual body numerous times. In short this is what it means with context.

You are deeply frustrated by your work and of course your ever domineering Boss. You are tired of exploiting different aspects of yours-everything from patience , tolerance , even sycophancy . You have had enough and you have decided to put down your papers and its your last day at office. You have received your "Good Conduct Certificate" and other related docs for exit. Now you have just enough time to say goodbye. So you walk upto tour ex-boss and ask him-Can we talk ? You both walk into a nearby conference room . In there you pour out every single curse you have ever wanted to tell him and walk out of the room a very satisfied man !!

Nobel Prize and India

Out of the 13 Nobel awards given away this year , 11 went to the US. I was reading today's newspaper with a small article on the front page. Adjacent to it there was an article on flood relief initiatives and photographs of homeless people , which forced me to brood on the contrast for a while. The contrast in the articles reflects the struggle India is going through , when developed countries are working on technological advances .A big part of India is still dealing with issues like food , water and accomodation when a smaller part ,which nowdays is most often projected as its facade is discussing about information technology and nuclear warfare. Our country is getting heavier with population by the day. A ride in public transport in any Indian city can help one witness street women carrying new borns and begging on the streets . How does one explain contraception to those who are getting raped as I write this ? How do we explain literacy to those who are hungry ?
